We all need to test all the religious beliefs in the crucible of reason. But, the reason alone will not be the best guide about the ultimate reality. The teachings of great saints need to be respected and listened to and one should not jump into conclusions. You need to delve deep into their teaching. My understanding of my religion gives me the ability to sift the truth from falsehood and strengthens my faith, even in the face of so called scientifically proven facts contrary to the religious truth. I have never any contradiction between the Darwin's theory of Evolution and my religion.

My dear friend, please ask for possibles but not impossibles.Every human being is a dual personality that is 2 in 1.When one faces adverse situation, he blames others. When it happens to others the same fellow comments it is his own making. Majority of us preach for others but not practice them. That means we do not move in straight way. A reptile, snake can not walk straight. That is nothing but human behaviour. Only an enlightened soul (jnani) preach and practice the same. It is difficult to come across such person. Even by chance we come across, we will not be able to identify them as such.
Let us take supersttion which means a belief without any rationale. All our actions will produce one result or other but we do not want to accept them as they come. We expect a miracle to happen. What shall we call such expectation? We keep on knocking at various doors for the things to happen according to our dictates. The best solace for such things is superstition. When I appear an interview for a job along with 10 people, I wish I should be selected despite having knowledge that the interviewer will select best out of them. If by chance I am selected, I try to convince myself because I did some pooja I could get selected. Whom to blame for this. We exibit more belief in unknown power rather than in the system. Because it is convenient to keep faith on unknown power we tend to develop superstitions.
Then go to religious fanatism. since people are supersttious, good managers use fanatism to exploit gullible and achieve their results. This is nothing but exploiting the situation to ones own advantage. All of us contribute for it.
We can understand such things could have happened say 100 years back when trechnology was not developed much. But to our surprise these things are still growing much faster than the technology. This only indicates that the human behaviour pattern remains same irrespective of changes in environment.

True followers of religion will not be fanatics or terrorists. So called religious people are non-believers and they are selling the principles of the religion for their own benefit.
