This girl at my school said that she only chooses ugly friends so when they go out more guys will look at her. Has anyone heard of this? I think it is a very shallow thing to do.

Yes!. i have heard of this alot!.... As will you as you get older, and your friends get Bit'hier with age!.
I had a friend who only had friends who were overweight (she was an 8 and all her friends including me at the time were 16 and over). I lost weight and got down to an 8 and she didn't want to know me for a while, until she matured abit!.
It is very shallow, and the peole who do this have serious insecurites about themselves!... Maybe the girl at your school thinks she's not that good looking, and fears competition!
