If order is important and no letters are repeated, there are 26*25*24=15,600 possibilities.
If order is not important and no letters are repeated, there are 26*25*24/3*2=2,600 possibilities.

one in 25 for the second and
one in 24 for the third
which gives you a one in 15,600 chance of getting the correct three letters.

it depends, if the letters can repeat, then its 1/26x26x26, if they cant repeat then its 1/26x25x24. its been a while since i did these equations but they should be right
