Good Question! It is just as important to feed your dog well as it is for you to eat well. It would be a good idea to try and find a food that does not have as many fillers in it, but more nutritious food. A lot of dog foods have very little nutrition and a lot of fillers that can cause problems in the long run. Like you I know people that do feed a low grade food and have fed their dogs that their whole life and their dog seemed to do okay. Most of the time though the dog will develop problems as the years on that food progress. I guess it depends on your dogs system! The best thing of course, would be to prepare your dogs food at home! It's like the old saying goes "You don't know what's wrong until you change." You may feel that your dog is fine, but if you put him on a really good diet in a few weeks, you may be surprised how much better your dog is!

Fresh, organic leg of a true lamb. If you have a local farm, that is the place to purchase.
