Many people desiring to be open-minded about religions have entertained the assumption that the type of religion you choose doesn't really matter, since all paths will lead to the same God. But does man really need religion to be a good person?

No, of course not. Take a look at the questions and answers, and compare those coming from religious people with those coming from nonbelievers.

I do think that your question helps to reveal what might be part of the problem. Believers are focused on achieving perfection, when they should be focused on simply learning to behave themselves. It's like they're standing on the ground trying to reach the top rung of the ladder, but refusing to step onto the lowest rung.

Now, of course that's a gross generalization - but I'll guarantee that you see a few dozen confirming examples if you check in here throughout the day.

Hi Witty Student, Im not sure if you are asking to really know, or if you are just throwing out a witty question, but i will answer it as though you are serious:) Religion as religion, is just repeditively doing something, like, i'm religious about doing my teeth, i do them morning and night. When it comes to Christianity though, it is about a relationship with Jesus- and being Christ-like, even when i dont do it well! As for being a good person, anyone can be a good person, if that was the level to get into heaven or have relationship with God, even some would say Hitler should be in heaven!! The bible makes it clear though that it was Jesus giving up His life, and dying at Easter time, (the reason that we celebrate Easter, because He came alive again after 3 days) that He broke the power of sin and death- yes i know sin is an unpopular word, but it just means the wrong things that we have done. These can be swept away, no matter how awful we have been, these things no longer separate us from God, and getting into heaven. The bible makes it clear that it isnt anything that we can do to earn our way there, but only by coming to God and asking forgiveness: Ephesians 2:8,9 says".... you have been saved, through faith....it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." Once we see what a wonderful thing this is, then we want to develop a relationship with Him-praying, reading the bible, and joining a church where things about Jesus are taught, so that we learn more, and can encourage each other on our journey through this life. Not every christian church does this well and some more than others, so you may have to go to a few before you find one that suits you:) All the best with your search.

No! humanity simply requires common sense, humility, compassion, wisdom, intuition and tolerance to achieve a kind of future utopia.
It is greed, hatred, ignorance and egotism which holds humanity back from reaching its goals.
Who's to blame for all this social malaise but the self-interests and power hunger of politicians and religious figures from Christianity and Islam who wish to bind us to the past hatreds without any concerns for the future of tomorrows children.
With every minute passing, our natural world is slowly dying, from the rape and pillaging it has suffered for the last three hundred years.
It is nigh time for a "turn around" which is being lead by the concerned everyday citizen.
The three main religions have no baring on spirituality or the consciousness of the plight of our planet.
I always believed that you are nearer to God when you are nearer to the natural world.
A forest in springtime is far more beautiful and inspirational than any cold stony cathedral, so too, is natural formed spirituality, founded on experience, rather more revealing and endearing than the rigid constructs of a intolerant man made religions.

Religion is really a belief system, and so Christianity falls loosely under the religion catagory. However, true Christianity is not as much a belief system as it is a belief in a Person, Jesus Christ. According to Christ, all religions or beliefs do not lead to the same God, but Jesus said in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." Many people live what humans call a good life, but no one can live what God calls a "Godly" life without Christ. To live a Godly life you must have the Spirit of God living within you.

Being good has nothing to do with going to heaven. there are a lot of so-called good people that are going to end up in hell. Religion is self-righteousness and self-righteousness never saved anybody because self-righteousness is pride and pride is the sin of the devil. Belief in the atoning grace is the only thing that saves. The work is done and all people need to do is accept the fact that Jesus has done everything at the cross. Works do not save. Salvation is by faith alone---faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ at the cross. Religion distracts men and women from the truth of Christ. Christianity is not religion, but a personal relationship with God. It is all about relationships, relationships with God and relationships in God between men and women. All paths do not led to heaven. Jesus said; 'I am the way, the truth and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me."

GOD inspired more than 40 writers over a 1600 year period to write the BIBLE. HE sent HIS SON, who was crucified for our sins at Calvary so that we could have an opportunity to be in Heaven with HIM. Christianity is HIS means to get us there. We can NeVeR achieve perfection and being "good" is relative. We are all sinners and do not deserve to be in heaven but we have HIS offer. Don't you want to follow HIS commands so that you too will have that opportunity?

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

Afaik all religions lead removed from God. Religiousity turn human beings removed from God in the experience that folk admire/prioritize greater the regulations and regulations quite than the heart of God. Kinda like human beings falling in love with the regulation quite of why the regulation grew to become into made. occasion. a guy gets arrested for jaywalking and given an excellent. Why? because of the fact he ran on the line to maintain a boy from getting run over by using a truck. you notice? He could settle for a advantages, no longer arrested and given an excellent. The regulation grew to become into made to circumvent dying , he fulfilled the heart of the regulation, no longer the letter of the regulation.

Mankind can never achieve perfection. Only God is perfect. All paths may lead to God, but more is required of us then just walking down a path.

Yes ofcourse. After all y God has created us? i mean he wants you to choose the path that leads you to the success. but main thing is that what you are gonna choose. ? First i tell you the importance of religion in life.

Every person wants to be best in this word. well let say a baby borns. it grows up. and then do marriage and then gets old and play with grandchild and eventually dies. In this case he/she doesnt have any idology to follow to become special. In that life he could not decided what is bad and what is wrong because he didnt have any education that could justify his actions. So he did all the things as they were.

Now what is the education that could tell you the proper actions against diferent situations.
For this education God has sent alots of prophets. in sequence thoes were MOSES(with TORAH) and JESUS with BIBLE and other and in final it was Muhammad with Quran.

God awarded them with the education to educate the peoples.
Now for you what education to pick. In the common sence education from MOSES and JESUS are now not in their original forms they are changed now by human interferance . So most new and correct education by God is Quran.

Anyways reason to pick quran is seprate debate i will not go to that major concern that to be best in the life is to get the absolute right path and one must be asure of it what he or she is choosing.

Now if u think that man should live under some rules then rules should be made by some superior personality then human. So as GOD decided.

GOD tells us how to live .., how to do things... other wise if that was not the case then SON should marry with his mother and sister should marry with her Father. These are the rules set by GOD and follow by human.

In short... religion tells us to live our lives under some set of rules without that you cant succeed because one of the rule is to believe in GOD and without beliveing him success is invain because what ever we do we do for God.

And GOD tells us right paths of success in TORAH,Bible (obsolete) and in Quran(Final words of GOD).

hope that will answered the question.

Best Regards
Usman
