To degerm stuffed animals stick them in garbage bags and freeze them over night. I do this on the advice of my daughter's doctor, it will also kill dust mites. She has a trachestomy so we have to be super careful of germs and mites.
Go find something called Clorox anywhere spray, its should be safe for the puzzles, you can even spray it on food surfaces. I am addicted to the stuff. Smells like a very faint pool smell but it goes away quickly and kills lots of germs.
Hope the RSV goes away quickly, that is nasty stuff. My girls got the synagis shots for it and did not get it thank god but a friend did get it, get well soon baby!
OH PS Dont use Lysol on the wood puzzles and can ruin them. I did and it discolored the wood and messed up thepicture part too, and I sprayed very lightly

Big hugs to you for dealing with RSV. This is the scariest time of year, isn't it?
Does your washing machine have a delicate or handwash cycle? If it were me, I wouldn't take a risk with something as serious as RSV, and I would wash the stuffed animals on the gentlest cycle possible. Dreft, Ivory Snow, and Woolite are all good on delicates. I would air dry the stuffed animals after washing on delicate, then give them a spray with Lysol (since the delicate cycle will be cold water.)
Wooden blocks & wood puzzles should do fine with a spray of Lysol. Clorox makes a new product called Hard Surface Sanitizer, but I am not sure it is strong enough to knock out RSV. If you are afraid of ruining the wood, do a quick spray of a small test area first. I have never had a problem with the "Doug and Melissa" wooden puzzles being damaged by cleaning in this way.
Good luck & I hope everyone gets healthy and stays that way!

You can put stuffed animals in zip lock bags (or sealed bags) and put them in the freezer overnight. I read this will kill germs on them. As for the blocks and puzzles, Clorox makes a spray that kills germs but is safe to use around food and babies. I spray all my daughters toys down with it. It might get the wood a bit damp, but it shouldn't ruin anything.

Can dry clean stuffed animals or do it yourself with DRYEL kit. The heat from the dryer will de-germ them without any cleaning though. I would use a color fast bleach on the other things as you don't want to lose the color. LYSOL will do good too for disinfectant. As long as you don't get the blocks and puzzles too wet, they will be fine and not be damaged.

I have heard that with stuffed animals you can tie them up in trash bags (airtight) and that you leave them for a few weeks...whatever lifespan of the virus is...then you can use them. I haven't tried it though...so I would look into it more.
