i think that greenpeace, through its rather extreme means of getting its message across, has given its self a rather bad name in the world...except to those who actually give a damn...two organizations really making a difference (by using the system to fight the sytstem i.e. the courts) are the National Resource Defense Council www.nrdc.org and the Union of Concerned Scientists www.ucsusa.org ...i actually hear their names come up in the news every so often and am always pleased...check them out?

Hmmm ... back in the late Seventies, i was in my early teens .... There was an animal feed factory at the end of our road and they dumped lots of liquid waste in the stream that ran at the back of the factory. I took a picture of the frothing water once. Nothing lived in it. The same stream ran behind our house and the water was black and would stink on bad days. This went on for years and in my late teens i took the picture to the local Greenpeace office. Thought if anyone cared, they would.
Their office was by appointment only, or so i was told after i rang the bell and someone opened the door. Then she asked me WHY i wanted to make an appointment. I showed her the photo and i can't remember her exact reaction but i never got the appointment. She wasn't even interested in holding on to the photo!
So my local Greenpeace never made a difference to me when i was most impressionable. And what is the point in caring for the planet if you don't care for the local environment?
As for the factory ... About 5 years ago some luxury appartments were built on it, the stream is clearer but the downstream part where i used to live is still black :-(

No note at all particularly when they give out there spite filled "facts" as gospel.
I work in the environmental industry and i never once heard of one person actually taking their point of view seriously, in my view they have become far to marginalised - i even Know people from friends of the earth that think they are over the top and do not consider the facts fully.
Besides from people I've met who've known people in Greenpeace the hypocrisy within the upper echelons is huge.
If you want my advice steer clear of what they say.

Yes they are, They are doing there very best to turn the world into a socialist society. Unfortunately for them(but fortunate for us) is there Hypocracy stands out so much. Luckily not enough people take them serious. However there was a time when no one took liberals serious either, and look how had they've messed everything up they touched.
yes they're making a dif. But not the one they want.
