Being an American I would be tempted to say NO. However, I've been to Canada and I could see that they're not as arrogant as we are, their health care system is better, their tolerance for other cultures is higher..... I could go on and on... but the short answer is YES, Canada is better than U.S.A.

Being a Canadian, and wanting to be respectful of all (as is our way), I will answer by sharing what makes Canada great...not necessarily better.

We are a cultural mosaic, not melting pot....so we embrace ethnic diversity and therefore learn alot about other cultures, foods and traditions. It makes us more open minded and understanding about the countries around the world.

We offer free healthcare to all - whether it is a doctor's appointment or open heart surgery. There can be long waits for elective surgeries and treatments, but the perception of that problem is highly exxagerated in other countries.

We have clean cities and good roads - compared to other countries.

Our standards for food (ie. meat, eggs, etc) must pass higher standards.

Our post secondary schools do not offer athletic scholarships...only academic ones. Free rides are not given to those who cannot meet the academic requirements of our educational institutions.

We do not believe in Capital Punishment.

Private ownership of guns is highly legislated, and our crime rate is comparatively very low.

We have the highest percentage - worldwide - of immigrants who seek legal citizenship.

We are recognized, globally, as being incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming.

We see and feel no need to be the biggest, fastest and strongest nation in the world. We are not arrogant, boastful or elitist. Our national pride is incredibly strong, but we will never be 'in your face'.

We recognize that we do not have the finances to fund an extensive military...but we continue to offer our men and women in uniform as peacekeepers throughout the world. We offer whatever help we can. Without sending the country into massive financial debt.

Thank you for this nationalist opportunity!

My first response was NO!
Because I am American, however it far exceeds the USA in the following areas..I lived in Montreal, Quebec for a few years and actually had a child there!
Towards people they care more with there socialized medicine.
They are not prejuced towards Gay or Lesbians and are quite excepting to all lifestyles even multicultural etc.
THEY have true freedom of speech like on TV news the broadcasters have no fear telling politians where to go and how to get there.
Nobody sues anyone hardly!
So in alot of aspects the answer is YES!

That is too broad of a question. Both have things that are good and bad. I much prefer southern US weather. They are the same continent and basically sister countries so I have never thought to compare them. I've met nice Canadians and hateful Canadians. I've known nice Americans and hateful Americans.
If you are speaking government, I couldn't comment on a governement I am not governed by. So I could not compare American and Canadian governments. To read about it is only a small slice. So really, I don't know anyone that can TRULY answer this question in complete honesty without prejudice unless they have dual citizenship and have lived in both countries for extended periods of time.

Is any nation better than any other?

The only thing that this question will accomplish will be to incite the nationals from each nation to have a bash at each other.

You would have to give more clarity. In what perspective?
Why would you want to compare the 2 independent countries?
Be more clear...

Herouxville, Quebec, has got some good ideas!
Do you think it is anti-immigrant to say you can't stone, kill, or burn woman?
