There is very little sugar in a wine like Chianti, perhaps 1 - 2 grammes per liter. This is because Chianti is a dry wine and that means the sugar has been converted into alcohol by the action of yeast fermentation.

Look for the term RS or Residual Sugar on a winemakers notes, such as this one here http://www.style.com/eccodomani/about/chianti.html for Ecco Domani 2004 Chianti. It has 0.19g per 100ml

8oz = 236.5882375 ml

so that would be about 0.4 grammes of sugar in 8 oz (if my arithmetic is good -- my wine knowledge is better than my arithmetic.

How Much Sugar In Red Wine

This is tough. If you had 8oz analyzed you could come up with a number, say like a 16oz. coke has 27 grams of sugar.

But the alcohol is converted to sugar by your body motabolism.

I would think the actual grams of sugar would be very close to commercial grape juice. No telling how much your actual blood sugar would be affected by drinking that quantity.
