I just had my thyroid checked and the doctor left a message that my TSH level was high (5.16) but the other one (starting with a t ?) is normal. I am going to make an appointment with a doctor for the high TSH. I have been searching on the internet and cannot find a straight up answer for what normal TSH levels are.
Basically I want to know this... How HIGH is a TSH level of 5.16 ?

Your TSH of 5.16 indicates you are probably hypothyroid. The range at many labs is 0.3 to 5.5, however the range since 2003 as set by AACE is supposed to be 0.3 to 3.0. Some medical sources believe anything over a 2.0 is suspicous. Other tests you should have done are the Free T4, Free T3, and an antibody test. the total T3 and T4 and T3U are useless tests. The free levels are the acual amount of hormone in your blood available for use. Always test TSH in the morning, as its highest when we sleep, so you want to catch it at its highest point first thing in the morning. By 2PM its at its lowest point.

Each lab is different. Unfortunately that makes it very confusing. Most labs use the reference range of 3-5 as normal.
There are usually 3 or 4 tests they use to accurately test your thyroid, T3, T4, Uptakes & TSH.
