If a female is referring to a male, then it is spelled fiance. If a man is referring to a woman, she is referred to as fiancee. They are both pronouced the same.

Fiancee is for females and fiance is for males if it is a male and female relationship.But if it is a single sex relationship then fiancee is the partner that acts as a female in the relationship.
