Some people speak in tongues, nothing is done away with yet.

People can speak in tongues without an interpereter, it's not their fault that there is not one around. If someone prays in tongues the Bible says that they do not know what they say, but in the spirit they speak mysteries;

1Cr 14:1 ¶ Follow after charity, and desire spiritual [gifts], but rather that ye may prophesy.

1Cr 14:2 For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

1Cr 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men [to] edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

1Cr 14:4 He that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

first of all speaking in tongues is valueless if you dont have an interpretor. paul clearly said that if there is no interpretator that such a person should remain silent.
I think many people can be deceived and just mutter jibberish.

but truly I had a conversation with a horse. I could easily discern the actions of his hoof beating the ground. animals language is truly a gift of speaking in tongues. And ever since i was a child and saw the original dr doolittle, i wanted it.

the gift of tongues was also given by an angel when the old testament says a prophet was talked to by a mule.

but the gift of toungues is NOT the greatest gift. Paul clearly said that the gift of prophecy was the greatest gift, i suppose in his opinion, and he said we should desire that gift. see cor ch 14:1

Not all prophets spoke in tongues. so dont rely on this teaching as infalible proof that someone is born again. truly not all disciples spoke in tounges either.

You have only received the Holy Spirit if you understand what you are saying. Otherwise you are getting the spirit from elsewhere and are speaking gibberish. What happen on Pentecost of 33 AD was for a purpose and all of those Christians understood what they were saying because they had to explain to others about Jesus.

When the disciples 'spoke in tongues',they spoke different languages so all the people from neighbouring nations that were in the city at the time could understand the message they were preaching. They didn't make senseless noises and sounds that no one could understand. What would have been the point?

Yes, God did not change, he is the same today, yesterday and forever.
When I received Christ, I received the Holy Spirit, everyone who knows Christ has the Spirit of Christ, but without the Spirit of the 3rd God head, its like making a cake with out putting in the flour.
Oh you can eat it, but with the whole ingredients to help your walk in Godly places, all three, The Father, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, is needed.
Jesus is salvation, and represents God, but the Holy Spirit, is the teacher, and he is the lamp at our feet.

Yes....when I first spoke in Tongues I spoke in Japnese, Chinese, etc and I knew what I was saying. that was 18 years ago in Northam W.A. I was going off, The Euphoria was like being stoned.. That's the Holy Spirit filling your Spirit's Cup which is located next to your Heart. and God's timing is not always our timing either.

it's all nice that so many people thought that they spoke in tongues but if that was the case then it has nothing to do with the bible see 1Co 13:8 Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;
1Co 13:10 but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.
some try to say that the perfect is Christ but it should be translated complete because it is referring to the bible.
Also it is worth mentioning that when they spoke in toques they were speaking in different languages see Act 2:4 And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:5 And dwelling at Jerusalem there were Jews, devout men out of every nation under heaven.
Act 2:6 But this sound occurring, the multitude came together and were confounded, because they each heard them speaking in his own dialect.
Act 2:7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not these who speak all Galileans?
Act 2:8 And how do we each hear in our own dialect in which we were born?
It is interesting that other pagan religions claim to speak in toungues so does this meant that they have the tuth or the holy spirit? no
Just because you speak in toungues means nothing it just means that you would like to have something special but we can have that at the moment so i suggest that you studdy scripture and learn the truth because when Christ returns i wouldn't want him to reject you when you thought you were doing the right thing.
remember Christ's words.
Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!
Mat 7:24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
Mat 7:25 And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded on a rock.
Mat 7:26 And everyone who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Mat 7:27 And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the wind blew and beat on that house. And it fell, and great was its fall.
Mat 7:28 And it happened, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His doctrine.
Mat 7:29 For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
And i'm sure that these people will think that they have done the right thing!

Yes, I did. That first happened to me when I was 15. I sometimes still pray in tongues.
