by indicating your brother is slow does this mean he is mentally challenged? Retarded? Or what?

If this 43 year old man is just LAZY---and thinks you are his maid make it very clear to him---that you are not the maid.

What on earth are you doing living with your 43 yr old brother anyway? Unless of course the 43 yr old is mentally handicapped. If he is not----you're old enough to live on your own and leave your brother to his own mess making and cleaning up.

There is a difference between slow and stupid. Stop picking up after him. Let it be a battle of wills. Live with the mess for a while. Maybe he'll learn you aren't gonna bottle feed him anymore.

When you say slow, do you mean mentally slow? If that is the case someone needs to teach him to clean up after himself. If he knows better, then you need to tell him what a slob he is and that you are not going to be coming around him if he doesn't straighten up.. Good luck!

One of you needs to move out.

When you say slow, do you mean disabled?

It sounds like he has used his disability to get his way. If he is mentally capable of doing these chores, then you need to quit waiting on him, and retrain as you would a child that is spoiled rotten. Same situation, different age.

If it isn't a disability, won't change, and can do things on his own, then kick is butt out!

Are you saying that your brother is mentally challenged? I think it depends on how "challenged" he is. I think lots of love and good phrase for when he does something right could help. Don't yell or show your aggravation...I'd rather a messy person than a sad person any day. If he can't help himself, and repetition doesn't help... all you can do is love him.

just keep on telling him that that is not good for a person aging like that to do such a thing because that is not the manner of a person aging like that to do it. by that it might make him realize the bad thing that he is doing.

Was he born with a deficiency? i wonder if anyone has taught him to be responsible for his actions?
You may think he is slow and if he is... It can be cured.
Teaching him to be responsible is a good place to start.
