Depending on how old she is... focus her energy on cleaning the house... laundry, vaccum, dust. When it warms up, start on the yard. Nothing like some good hard work to promote some rest and relaxation.

Atificial sweetners made my daughter very hyper. Decided natural is best, so no drinks unless its got sugar in it or fruit juice etc. Try it you will be suprised in the results.

Also she may have a lot of energy to buurn off so get her out and about to run around. That should do the trick.

Depending on the age and activities of the child, and what you consider "hyper" activities. Children have sponge like minds and take in a tremendous amount of information. Maybe Mom needs vitamins in order to keep up rather than suppressing the child.

you dont say how old she is?? if she's a toddler, most are generally hyper like my son.. hes on the go all day, but is knackered by tea time. i take him to playgroups often or he has a run about in the park.
if she's older, cut out fizzy drinks coke in paticular makes kids hyper. i wont give that to either of my two. they have sugar-free juices or milk/water. cut down on sweets, and get them to eat plenty of fruit/veg. get her interested in something. make a chart of things she likes to do, and set aside certain times when she can do things alone like drawing/painting and where you can do things with her, like cooking/baking etc. she will find making the chart fun too, and it can also involve a sticker/treat once a week if she is good and settles down and goes to bed when she's told. hopefully this might help calm her somewhat. if it doesn't, contact your health visitor at your local gp for advice.

good luck!!

as we all know kids get hyper from sweets or well sugary stuff well with sweets i know that u can look at the ingredients and count the number of 'E numbers' they look like this E12 E277 whatev with an 'E' count how many 'E numbers you see EG:E11 E34 E56 E112 that would be 4 E numbers. if there are alot then thats not good but it also depends on how much your child can handle 4 E numbers could be alot. hope that helps!

Check out the additives on the foods/drinks you are giving her, it could be as simple as that, if it has occured for a significant period of time have chat with your health visitor or GP. ( My friends child gets Hyper after taking a childs formula for coughs and colds so we think its one of the ingredients in that having an effect.)

Only you know your daughter more than anyone else...I hope...so try portraying calmness in the things you do at home and every where. Try slowing things down yourself in every way you can, now don't be stupid and do it in a fake way to try and speed things up, cause then she will only act fake to. These things take time, but set out to start changing as soon as possible. When I mean things take time give it at least a year! The other thing is to check her friends and if they are hyper, try to veer her away from them and introduce her to some calmer people. Its the things around us that influence us the most. good luck!

Ignore her - try not to look @ her or give her any hint shes recieving attention and let the hyper fit naturally run its course.
Try giving her calming foods and drinks such as bananas and warm milk. Perhaps try a bath with Johnsons lavender bath oil.

Lay off the sweets. I was the same way as a kid. My mom took me to the doctor and I was diagnosed with ADD. It is possible she could have ADHD also. In either case, there's medicine for that. Im alot older now, but I grow out of it. It can happen, and its not a big deal.

have a look at what she eats on a daily basis and if there's alot of sugary things, then cut them down, change pop for squash, sweets can be for a treat not a daily thing. Try doing something like going for a walk together, tire her out. If all else fails, go see a doctor, she might have a hyperactivity disorder.
Good luck.
