If you doubt that you are going to like a tattoo for the whole of your life, then don't get one. Seriously, and this is coming from someone with tattoos. If you are not sure of what you want and don't think it's going hold meaning 50 years from now, then hold off on getting anything until you are sure. Tattoos can't be removed easily (or inexpensively), so you need to be as certain as possible that you will be happy with getting one.
Wait a while. Think about it. Don't ask other people what you should get (especially perfect strangers on the internet). The tattoo has to be something important to you personally. When you find that certain something, then it'll be time to get one.

I love big colorful tattoos on women. Dragons included. But you need to wait until you are of legal age. If you live in a place where that age happens to be 17, go for it. As for it looking cool when you are 50, it may, today's inks and artist are much better than they were 40 years ago.

Get something that has a meaning to you, but what do you mean "it's not going to be cool when i get 50" no matter what tattoo you get it will be stuck with you your whole life unless you get it removed so if you really want a dragon tattoo get it, but don't get a tattoo to be cool get it because you want it

Then just wait. There is no need to rush a tattoo design and to some people, dragons will be cool to them when they hit 50.
It more or less sounds like you want one for the fad, not for yourself. I suggest you hold off on inking for a while until the PERFECT tattoo comes your way.

My first tattoo was right below my panty line in front, and it is a Taurus symbol with fire in it. I will never regret it because it symbolizes a period in time I will always remember. My other ones.......well lets just say there wasn't a whole lot of thought to them. They are pretty but, I am stuck with them. Make sure you know what you want and make sure someone good does it. The last thing you want is to have something you don't want that looks like crap!

I say you should get a tat. Get one that's visible you can cover it up if you need to cause I do and mine are pretty big. You should get a tat of something you won't regret cause this is going to be something you'll have forever. You live only once so live life to the fullest. Dragons are cool and you can get a smalll feminine one ask the tat artist.

My friends have been telling me that they now have tattoos that completely fade after a few years. I was hesitant on getting a tattoo myself, but now that I realize that they have ones that fade, I'm all for it.
And to answer your question about what tattoo is good for a 17 year old, I would say... any tattoo that is a lower back tattoo, cause those are fineee.

In order to get a tattoo legally, you have to be 18. I think you should wait til then, think it out. You are going to have this forever, so you don't want to get something you thing is fashionable now, like a dragon wrapped all up your back and hate it next year. Get something that is importaint and meaningful to you and you will love it forever.

Frankly, no tattoo's are going to look cool when you are a 50 year old woman. Also there are other ways to be "cool" rather than getting tattoos, alot of people have tattoo's, if you want to stand out from the crowd I'd say don't get one. How about a trendy haircut, or clothing, or taking up a new hobby...anything that can be altered or changed when you want it to. After a while they look different anyway...black turns to a greenish or blue color.
