Not really. The only time being a member of the British Commonwealth comes in handy is getting citizenship.
You also have the added benefit of coming from an English-speaking country, so the requirements for English proficiency testing are waived.

You have to wait as long as anyone else that applys for permanent residency. First you must apply for landed immagrate status, then if you want to become a Canadian you must also apply for that. It can take up to 2 years to get permission to live in Canada. And there is no 'language test' that you must pass

I think it takes more since you have to apply to the office in London
you may speed up with a job offer, or a provincial nominee program
But it is definitely possible!
