What time of year/season are you having your wedding?
For spring, you should go w/lights-pastels: light sage or mint, powder pink or blue, lavender, soft yellows, creams, beiges....
For summer, you could use brighter jewel tones as well as the pastels to include: corals, fuchsias, purples, teals, jade, yellow...
Fall would definitely call for warmer colors: cocoa browns, rusts, wines, burnt orange, chartreuse, violets, plum, cranberry, golds....
And of course Winter: periwinkles, silvers, whites, navy or sapphire blues, pine or emerald greens, reds, cranberry,
Think of what colors YOU like and also what will compliment your girls in the party. You can even have each one wear different shades or different coordinating colors. They don't all have to look like carbon cut-outs of one another...and I think that varying the dress color tones and styles among the girls makes for a very attractive bridal party if it's done right. And they like it better each having a dress that suits them rather than being forced to wear something they otherwise wouldn't be caught dead in! LOL
Just have fun!

Any colors will work for any time of year. Your Maid and Matron of Honor can be in the same colors as your other bridesmaids, or they can be in another shade of the same color, or another color entirely. Your call. Talk to your fiance and see what kind of colors he likes. Go shopping with your bridesmaids and see what colors look nice on them, and what they like. If you have not yet selected your wedding colors, you could build them off of what the bridesmaids vote for. When in doubt, use black and white. Simple, classic, easy to find and easy to match. Don't worry too much about wedding colors. The only place we used them was in the invitations and the bridal party members' attire. The florist helped me choose complementing flowers to use in the bouquets and centerpieces. We used the reception hall's standard white tablecloths, and neutral napkins. Done and done. It's so easy if you don't stress over it.

My daughter is getting married in March, and she has chosen a blue color for the bm's. It is a medium blue that is kind of silvery or gray looking. It is a beautiful color. She is going to use apple green, blue and lavender in the decorations and flowers. The bm's are going to carry hydrangea flowers. Gorgeous!!! There have been so many weddings done in black, I'm so glad that she is using pretty colors for a change. The most important thing is to choose something that you like. You will get a different opinion from every person you ask!

Pull up some bridesmaids dresses on different websites (or try a search) and choose what you like. Anything goes.

There are no set rules, have a look around and see what colours you like, also take into consideration the colouring of your bridesmaids.

I like sage/peridot. It gives a nice contrast with pink or reddish bridesmaid bouquets. Coral and gold are nice colors too.

What's your favourite colour? Don't have one? What do your bridesmaids want to wear? Don't know yet? Turn to your lover and say, "Honey, what colours do you like best? Okay thanks, that's our wedding colours." and be done with it.

purple, pink and coral look good on almost every complexion. one of those should fit the time of your wedding. If you can't decide, go black. it's elegant and slimming.
congrats & good luck!
