they are very good because Volkswagen's are built on the same platforms as Audi's because vw owns Audi and they have been making quatros for years! German engineering is alsome. depending on the model they can range in price from 20,000 to 50,000 or something like that but check Edmund's.com for details happy shopping.

the technology in the passat is the same as in the audis with the engine installed lengthwise. The technology in the VW with the engine broadside to the length of the car is the same as in the Audi A3.

So there is lot of experience behind it and you can expect it to function very well. Except for the Touareg, the cars are not really all terrain cars. The Touareg has all the features to perform well even in very rugged terrain.

Costs for VW 4WD will be about 2.000 Dollar higher than 2WD. This goes for new cars. Used they are not much more expensive.

Vw's are pretty good cars. But they are just now getting into the AWD world with thier "4Motion". That means stay away. It's going to be prone to problems and issues. I would reccomend an Audi quattro or a Bmw ix, or lexus IS awd. Those are all excellent cars that dominate vw at awd and overall.

Or are you talking about the SUV? The Touraeg is what you meant.Again the Touraeg is a fine car, but I would reccomend getting a Landrover LR3, or a Lexus RX330 or an audi Q9, or a Mazda CX-9. Those are all quality cars. Whatever you do, do not buy a Honda Pilot!! worst suv on the market

Oh dear god, if you mean the Toureg pile of junk let me tell you
Oil changes need to be done on all cars, vw's are no different.
The toureg takes vw specific oil only, anything else will void the warranty and make it run worse than they allready do, the pile of crap takes over 17 liters of oil at a walk in customer cost at the dealer of $28 a liter, plus the stupid vw fancy i cant make a normal oil filter like every other auto manufacturer in the world costs over $50, so unless your ready to shell out that cash every 3 months or 8000k to go along with a whole bunch of other dumb costly impossible to complete repairs, do yourself a favor and stay away from german engineering.

the VW awd system is just sourced from the audis. its the best on the market for non sports cars. The only more advanced system I know of is in the AWD porsches. The lamborghini and bugatti systems are both from VW/audi.

My Touareg, wow, it would corner like no other SUV, fast (V8) push a button and it would raise itself, sounds great hu. What a piece of junk! Tires last 10,000 miles, oil changes see above, step motor-2 of them it locked the keys inside-with engine running-new air bag-brakes at 30,000 miles-14 miles to gallon-batteries 2-over 20 other issues, Volkswagen's customer service, big big joke- lost $20,000 when I traded it in on a Nissan Pathfinder. Nissan not as appointed, but you know the tow truck won't have to follow you everywhere. Other then that the Touareg was a great car, You asked !
