I always shut it and lock it. I don't wanna get caught by some serial killer who breaks into my home and me being there on the toilet.

V.good question! I hadn't thought about that before, but yes, the rare times I am home alone I always shut the bathroom door. I think it is just more hygenic as well... not that I do anything like that. Ahem.

Yes. Some videorapists may respect a closed bathroom door...probably not, but there's always that chance.

no but as a mom i've learned that doors on bathrooms are pointless anyway because everyone just opens them yelling "mom". i cant wait till i can go to the bathroom without an audience again.

Yes, but I don't know why, except that my bathroom faces the entrance door and my son has a key.

yes.
i was asked this question almost 30 years ago.
it has to do with people not walking in on you by accident.
and of course even with the door shut, i walked into a bathroom and found someone sitting on the toilet.
it made me angry because i had not viloated anyones privacy almost my entire life.

Yes....good manners have been so deeply ingrained in me that I would shut the door. I even say excuse me when no one is there to hear me. Crazy I know.........
I was raised to believe that "there is no excuse for bad manners" and I have carried that around inside of me my whole life. I frankly think that the world is a nicer place when people have good manners. So few still do.
