I have flu and my nose is streaming. It is now so sore and red it hurts to blow. Any advice on what to put on it to stop the soreness. Mentholatum just makes it sting.

i agree - an emollient cream like Vaseline is the best. it helps protect the skin from becoming more dried out and sore after all that blowing. u could also try sudocreme, that's got antiseptic in it, and can be very soothing. only problem is that u have to rub it in well or it'll look like u've been painting your nose white ! lol. hope u feel better soon.

Aloe Vera relieves the pain without stinging. It is also the best thing to use when your skin is irritated by the sun. Just rub it in gently. You will find aloe gel at the pharmacy or drugstore. Use a gel with a high percentage of aloe.

Zinc ointment works as well. This is used against nappy rash, which is also irritation of the skin.

Vaseline only closes off the skin, by putting a layer of grease on the skin. This idoes not bring relief as it does not moisturise.

The only thing is Vaseline, preferably the non scented version, everything else stings like crazy. Get well soon!

try a saline nasal spray or a decongestant to help stop the congestion.
also use lotion or vaseline around the tip of ur nose and where ever it is sore and if you really need to wipe ur nose, use a moisturized kleenex!

got any Vaseline...its perfume free and odorless and really helps moisturize skin that's chapped. You can also use olive oil...same result.
Hope you feel better soon.
Good Luck!

Use a very soft cloth to wipe your nose, it wont hurt you. Vaselline is the best too.
