Here in Australia we are going through a big drought. Here in Melbourne the water dams are 38% full. John Howard wants the whole country to have recycled water by 2008. Yuck! I will not be drinking sewage water. That is absolutely gross. Howard is looking at spending 10 billion on the water crisis. I will not mind showering in it, washing my clothes in my machine in it, but I will not wash my dishes or drink that crap. What would you do? I would rather move to New Zealand as thy have rain all the time, at least I will be drinking normal water. People say there is no choice, because if we do not go recycled then we will not have any water left in a few years, and people will die. Yes that is true, but I tell you i will not be drinking sewage water. Do you blame me?

I heard yesterday by someone that it is not recomened for babies or old people as it will probably make them sick. You have to die of something right? I believe we are getting closer to the end of the age the way we are going. This world is going nuclear and recycled(water) could it get any worse. It will.

How is this for gross. When something dies, it/they shrivel up, as the water evaporates out of them. There eyeballs go real fast as they are mostly water. Then it rains into the dam which the residents nearby swim in, fish live in doing all there animal things etc. Then the water gets filtered, treated and pumped to you to drink. The fact of the matter is that the total amount of water on the earth doesn't really change, it just changes from being inside eyeballs to rain to inside grass to inside a cows atomach to cow feacal matter to rain to drinking water etc. Have you eaten sausage before? If made from packed intestines, did you realise that the 'skin' of the sausage used to be filled with feaces? Or that olkd footballs made with pig bladder insides used to be filled with urine? The only reason to move would be because you feel the government will not treat it right. And I am sure it will be fine.

Where I live we get our water from the river. I guess you would say our water is recycled. Sure the sewage gets drained into the river, but we have sewage plants that filter the sewage. Then gets dumped back into the river. Then the water from the river gets picked up into the water treatment plants where they add tons of chemicals. It is just easier to not thinkabout where the water came from. But if you don't feel safe then boil your water before using it. Also buy jugs or bottled water from the store for drinking and cooking.

Yes! I'm moving to Thailand in a couple of months for 1 year to work at an Elephant project :) I'd stay longer but it's quite hard with the visa, I'm not allowed to earn money over there.

Good thing you are not planning to become an astronaut, going onboard test missions where they'll need to recycle everything in order to be self-sufficient for months and years on end.

H2O is still H2O. I must admit, it isn't too appetizing to say the least.

I have drunk re-cycled water in many cities around the world, and have never noticed a problem, as an Australian, I know our country has to make use of every drop of water, we are in effect a desert. Re-cycled water is cleaner and more purified, as it has to be.
People who make stupid claims that they would rather move elsewhere, than drink re-cycled water are only upsetting the rest of the population, needlessly.
Eventually N.Z will be in the same situation...what will you do then,?

You do every day, that's the beauty of the water cycle. The water you drink today is the same water the dinosaurs used to sh'it in. Funny old world, isn't it?

I live in North Queensland and I would have no problems drinking recycled water, if i was completely and utterly satisfied that it was safe to drink, and would not affect my long term health.

I imagine it would be possible to buy water and have it shipped in via mail from another country (USA?). Bottled water is cheap there. I am sorry that you are in this predicament. I hope that things improve there for you all.
