It will be compatible because most of the DVD players and TV's now are able to read both PAL and NTSC color systems. Just set your TV and DVD player to auto color system and it will be fine. You should be able to change the color format on your computer when you are burning it, so to be sure I the first disk you burn burn one of each color system, and than see what is best on your TV, or find out what system your tv is and burn it is that format.

Go for digicams. 2 gigs of flash memory should allow you to save about 10 minutes of videos. With no moving parts, you get excellent battery life. Good lens, low-light sensitive, small size makes it more useful than camcorders as you are not locked on to different TV standards. More DVDs are being watched over computers where TV standards are not an issue. MiniDVs are highly fragile and all my 5 camcorders are now broken beyond economic repairsdespite very light use. I salvaged them for direct recording to PC nowadays. Finally, PAL hardware are very expensive. See the price difference when comparing NTSC and PAL side by side. Your PAL recordings are unusable in the U.S. Those PAL-NTSC covertors does not work well plus the time wasted in re-encodings. Camcorders are dead end technology. I saw a Sony miniDV model selling for 20 percent of is original price second hand.
