The age of consent in Thailand is 15 years for both male and female. However, if you are in a position of responsibilty over the 15-year-old you intend to have sex with this is a punishable offence. As is paying for sex with anyone between the ages of 15 and 18.

Because of Thailand's basic xenophobia and the populations' belief that all farangs are enormously wealthy, even if you have sex with a 16-18-year-old it will be assumed you have paid for or have the intention of paying for sex whether that is the case or not.

Although Thailand's age of consent is usually said to be 15, the laws can be interpreted to allow prosecution for sex with someone under 18.

The legal age of consent is variable depending on the circumstances. Anywhere from 15 and one day to 18 and one day. It is even possible to have the law interpreted to mean 21 and one day.
