Apparently both may look dissimilar but both have lot of common features.Politicians need support from the public to remain in their seat. For this they have to appease the public. Religion and caste are the best trump cards to provoke the emotions and bring the people into their fold. To bring development and improve the standards of people physical work has to be done which can be measured. Emotions are not tangible and short lived but more powerful. Politicians identify all god men and move closer with them to draw the public attention. So ,long as ignorance and illiteracy are there politicians will exploit the situation with the tool of religion to their advantage which appears to be nexus.

They should not have a nexus and when they do have one it spells trouble.
When Christianity mixed religion with politics one had the Inquisition, Wars of Religion, the Crusades, the less attractive aspects of Zionist and now Islamist terrorism.
I hope this is enough to make a point.

Religion is used to control the minds of the masses and it suits the politicians to use it to further their interests. Therefore religion and politics definitely have a nexus.

between two forces there is always a nexus, or meeting point where they converge. This is not desirable however. While my arguments for restraint of the mind (religion) are boundless, so are my arguments for political restraints.
