How to use hair straighteners properly

It's best not to use hair straighteners daily as they will cause tearing and breakage to the hair follicle and you will end up with a dry, split and frizzy mess.

The best way to use straighteners is to limit yourself to usage of 3 times a week. Make sure your hair is completely dry. If you must use a serum or straigtening lotion then brush it through and wait at least ten minutes before using the straighteners.

If you wash your hair at night, leave it to dry naturally and straighten in morning you will avoid the combined heat of hairdryer and straighteners which will ultimately dry and break your hair and your hair will love you for it.

For the best results with straighteners - if you want your hair to be glossy and straight - pin hair up and take down very small sections (depending on how much time you have but the smaller the better) run the irons smoothly from root to ends but don't linger too long on any one area. Ceramic or tourmaline straigheteners work best to protect hair from burning never use metal straighteners.

You need to dry your hair before straightening it otherwise you literally fry it! The sizzling noise you're hearing is the moisture evaporating. The spray you have bought IS worth the money as it protects your hair, and keeps the straight look for longer.

some of these people do not know what they are on about. to put it into simple terms, you put the spray on beofre blowdryin. or/and before you straighten, not only does it protect your hair but because of the txture of hair, if u style when it is wet(as in your spray) then it makes the hair stay straighter for longer. it is bound to sizzle, just like when u put a kettle on because the straighteners are hot. the straightener needs to be ceramic and over 200degrees.

If it is crackling when you are straightening damp (from water or styling products) hair it is the moisture sizzling and evaporating. Think about when you put a few drops of water on a hot griddle.

The spray will be making your hair slightly damp causing the sizziling sound when the moisture evaporates. I used a spray on my hair when straightening and it took the coating off the plates.
Try Trever Sorbie straightening addict spray from Boots, much cheaper.
