Im having them out under a GA as my roots are to long and they involve my sinus cavities and my nerves, so that is just great. Also i have one of the best oral surgeons in Australia.

First of all, I hope it goes well. I had mine out when I was about 25yo, although not the most pleasant experience, I did survive.. The swelling took about 10 days to subside, and they may be a bit tender, but hey if they have to come out, it's really not that bad from experience.
PS: read up on Vitamin C and healing if you are interested...

I had all mine taken at one time too. You dont need them, they are trouble. I took a few pain pills before I got there. I had one Valium, and one vicodin and the only thing that I felt was the needle which only last briefly and then everything goes numb. If you can stll feel a little something you had better tell the Dr. so he can shoot it in again. I did that on purpose just to be safe. I didn't feel a damn thing but told him I could still feel it just to get a little extra. I walked out smiling and swolen A guy sitting in the waiting room looked at me horrified but I giggeled and he laughed. The vicodin and sleep got me through it. The valium was great because i felt like a school girl flying high YYYYEEEEEE HAWWWWW

You'll be fine. About three days and it will be over.
After the 3 days stop taking the vicodin because you could get addicted to that stuff.

There was even a good part to it. I got off work w/ a weeks pay.
YIPPIE I AY COW PATTIE

Just read the part you added. In that case I would make certain that I followed Dr.'s orders and if you do smoke I wouldn't for at least a few days. You don't want an infection. But if you have the best Dr I'm sure he will take care of you and tell you how to take care of it so that it doesn't get infected. I believe I had disolveable stitches and I smoked but I rinsed and I never got an infection.

Everyone is different and every-ones body reacts differently so its hard to say. if you have had one out already then Id say it wont be all that much different from the first time.

When I got mine out, it hurt badly afterwards, but I was so out of it from the anesthesia, that it was hard to care. When I finally woke up a couple of hours later, it hurt so badly that I started crying. My mom gave me the pain killers and the pain went away after about 5 minutes. I was bleeding so much that my mom also had to replace my gauze every hour. The swelling wasn't too bad. The first and second day, I was just a little swollen, but it wasn't that bad. Then, on the third day, for some reason, I just completely blew up. It looked like I was smuggling apples in my mouth. Then, by the fourth day, the swelling was pretty much gone. It was really, really weird. I was really careful when I ate liquids so luckily, I didn't get any dry sockets. DO NOT use a straw, slurp your Jello (which is a lot harder than it sounds), etc. If you do, you will get the dry sockets which, from what my oral surgeon told me, hurts worse than childbirth. Although, I'm sure you've already heard all this already since you had already had one out, but that was my experience.

I had mine out at 18 while under GA. It's not too bad just make sure you do as the doc tells you too as a dry socket hurt more then anything. It might also be nice to have someone to care for you. As I had my mom she was able to change my ice packs and wake me as need a give my pain meds before the other one wore off as it hard to kill the pain once you feel it but it is easier to manage it if you keep on top of it. Someone we knew also suggested to use frozen peas in bag as ice packs as they form to the face. There was something that she did also that I loved was make favorite soft food like mash potatoes and cheese cakes but I must worn that I indulged in so much cheese cake that I am no long able to smell it let alone it eat it ever since lol. Anther side note don't be shocked after you find out what you said or did right after waking from GA while your still gray as you will more then likely not remember it and will have made some fool out out of your self. well at least I did and not lived it down from my mother or aunt whom both took me home and I'm 26 now.

It hurt real bad. Also, I smoked cigarettes 4 days after having it done and got an infection. So if you smoke, put cotton over the wisdom teeth holes in your mouth. Take pain killers, and drink those energy shakes. Feel bad for ya.

It will be tough for the first 3 days but after that it's going to be okay. The thing is that wisdom teeth give people so much trouble you will be glad you got rid of them.

some people dont even get phased and can eat corn nuts and doritos that very night, and some people are layed up for a week and can only eat painkillers. only one way to find out, have a nice time at the dentist.

So, what are you doing in about two weeks? *wink*

Seriously though, it's no big deal. Just the typical pain from surgery. If your doctor and anesthesiologist are worth their salt, you won't feel a thing...too much.
