No, there are a couple of other methods.

The simplest is a little more like a form of judo...
Instead of attacking beliefs, you go with them, drawing them out, following them to and highlighting their logical conclusions.
The decision as to whether this is fair and loving and appropriate will have to be determined on other grounds.

The longer method requires patience effort and goodwill on both sides. It involves each learning the other's position till they can state it without distortion to the satisfaction of their other side. At this point, and this point alone, can each explain the assumptions or other details they have had to take on board in order to adopt this alternate assessment.
(I've done it over small issues. It's very revealing)

On the other hand, assuming that you are the only one with Reason, (especially with a capital!) will shut the door faster than almost anything else.

Nope. Faith is like a thick wall believers have all around their hearts and minds, and there's no way (other than no reason) to break through it. Why bother? We're not preachers, they are, we're not bigots, some of them are, we're not intolerant, they're are: we don't need to get them to see what they cannot/are not willing to see, they'd rather stay blind and we respect that.

Live and let live my friend, never attack, only strike back when you're attacked;)

Let me answer your question by asking you this question. If you believe in anything (not necessarily religiously) and I believe that I know that what you believe in is wrong, how would you react if I attacked your belief to make you see reason. Would you see the point that I am making?

I hope this answers your question! Good Luck!

It depends. Are you classifying critisizm as attacking? Or do you think only slander is attacking? A reasonable person would try to see critisizm even in slander, because not everybody is capable of expressing critisizm in a sound and civilized way.

Attacking peoples faith shows how low you really are. Nobody should take anybody's crap. I am a Christian and proud of it, and I would not have it any other way. Anybody else who is not a Christian will end up in hell unless they except Christ.

I don't think that that would be a good Idea! usually you make them mad and then all the reasoning flies out the window!

I don't want to "attack" so much as I want to simply demonstrate that faith is dangerous.
