My parents are Catholic Christians and I was baptized in a Catholic Church.

Does this give me the right to become the Pope.

I'm guessing not. You have to be able to pretend as if you follow every creed of the belief and at the same time manipulate the belief for earthly gains for the benefit of the church. That would require a very sly personality or a very self-deceiving one. An ordinary person would see all the wrongs the church as an organization has been doing on the belief, and would feel disgusted. As an atheist, I'm not sure you are capable of deceiving yourself and masses so successfully.

You do not even need to be Catholic to become Pope. You simply need to convince the conclave, the next time there is an opening, that you are the right person for the job. That will take a lot of fast talk, because they will ordinarily select someone they know well to do the job -- and that means one of their own membership.

No, I dont think anyone has the right to be come the Pope. If you live the pious life, and devote your life to the Catholic Church, you still would not have the right. You must be selected by 66 old holy men. Well maybe 62 with 4 perverts who got in by hock or crook.
Well anyway, its not like the right to vote.

As far as I remember Mr Atheist Revolutionary - you don't actually believe all that cr*p!

I'm not sure it would be that great a job if you didn't actually believe in God - no sex (no really - in this day and age you couldn't get away with a bit on the side), limited power, high pressure with minimal freedom.

Although you possibly could tick the boxes that would let you bluff your way to the top - I had a bit more respect for you than to think you would

Nobody has a "right" to be pope, but don't let that stop you.

Go for it!

You would need to be ordained as both a priest and bishop, and probably a cardinal, before that could happen.

If you can get yourself appointed to the college of Cardinals and get majority support from the same. But then The Papacy should be vacant ?!!

Tough luck.

While there is no "right" to become pope, as a baptized male, you are eligible.

You'd have to start by being a priest. Since I'm fairly certain you don't believe in God (by your username, smartie), I doubt you'd have a chance let alone a right.

Would you really want the job? I think not. Plus I'm sure you wouldn't be very good at it becuase you're an atheist, no offense.

Only someone with an inflated ego would be a "pope".
