Interesting video with some important facts.

In theory religion should make you a better person. Let me speak specificially about Christianity since I know the most about this religion. The Bible clearly speaks that our purpose on Earth is to be more and more conformed into the image of His Son Jesus of Nazareth. According to the Bible, Jesus was the quinessential example of a moral being.
However, in modern western Christian religion many have taught that the Christian faith is a shallow faith that has nothing to do with your morals or your behavior. Of course they did not say this outright but with a focus on forgiveness and grace, which due exsist and people throw out works they are false teachers within the religion. Many Americans are proffessing Christians but they are not transforming Christians. We are to be continually transformed into the likeness of Christ.
So people who follow the teachings of the Bible and claim Christ as their Savior are better people. They are not perfect but their values and behaviors should be at a level above the rest of the world. God's intention for us while we are on earth is to become better and better moral creatures.

I guess this is why Jesus taught that the road to eternal life was a narrow road.
