Depends on what u are looking for in the Navy. I am in the Navy and let me tell you what I think the best career field is. If you want to get into a field that is completely applicable to the civilian world, and have a job that does not put you out to sea on ships and that does not have you wearing goofy sailor uniforms, then think of being a Seabee. You can be in numerous construction trades, have little or no sea time, travel to great places (and iraq also), and when u talk to other people in the navy, they always say, "i wanted to be a seabee". Some might say to be a marine is good, but I have seen them running around and acting stuck up and crazy for the past 20 years. Those guys always make fools of themselves every chance they get. You can get all the weapons training they get in the seabees with none of the gung ho nonsense.

I would say anything technical, communications, avionics, etc. You have to remember that there are huge gov't contractors all around the country that hire post-military personnel based on real-world experience.
