Well diet is important but these are some "hands on" things you can actually do to help your hair:
1. Use a shampoo and conditioner for your specific hair type.
2. When you wash your hair, don't pile it on your head, leave it hanging to avoid further tangling.
3. Leave conditioner on for a couple minutes, and look into deep conditioners that work with heat to penetrate hair shaft. Use them at least once a week. I know a product called cholesterol works well with ethnic hair.
4. When rinsing conditioner out use cool water to lock the conditioner in, if you rinse with hot water it's like you never put conditioner on.
5. Spray on some leave in conditioner after towel drying or some sort of moisturizer or cream that is to be used after you wash and condition hair...When combing out hair be carefull, wet hair is weak hair.
6. Get trims, more or less depending on how fast your hair grows b/c if you have split ends, they will split all the way up your head and that looks a hot mess.
7. If you are going to use heating tools, curling irons, flat irons, ect use products targeted toward protecting your hair from heat!! If you do use heat don't do it everyday.
8. Remember not to stress hair...tight styles, ponytails that make your eyes lift in the corners.
9. Ask a professional stylist what kinds of shampoos and conditioners you should use from every day stores ie, Wal Mart, Target, ect. (I say that b/c a stylist may try to sell you a $25.00 bottle of shampoo when you could have got one for a fraction of that cost that will work just as well). Also ask them about using olive oil, or mayo, or eggs in your hair. I use those things but they work for my hair type.
10. Invest in wide tooth combs, ponytail holders w/o metal where hair can get caught.
11. Last but not least keep it up! Don't get po'ed if you don't see 5 inches of growth in 1 month...
Get a regimen for your hair to get you in the habit of taking care of it...

Brush it one hundred times a night, working the oil from the scalp into the follicle. Also, if you're from the US you probably wash your hair too often. Try to wash it no more than 4 times a week. Also, lay off the blow dryer...either let the last 20% dry naturally or skip it a few days of the week.

You could use a toxic chemical free shampoo and conditioner. If you would like some info on the brand I use, Neways, shoot me an email and I'll post you some info and some free samples if you like. You'll be amazed at some of the "nasties" used in most hair care on the market and the side effects they can (and do) have on your health...!

first you need to eat a healthy diet... you need to be healthy physically.... emotionally.. spiritually... coz you know, our body is interrelated, if one system is down so as the others... heres an example... if your hair is dry and ugly.. your skin will be too.. and because your skin is ugly or dry and scally.. your mind will think that you are ugly so as your other system comes into play... your social skills will go down because of your ugliness...
if you live right everything will follow
