I won a trip in a contest and I got the W-2 form today. It was a value of $1900. I haven't been employed this year so I haven't made any money. Do I need to file this year?

If that is your ONLY income you do NOT need to file, assuming that you are a single taxpayer.

If you are married and filing a joint return with your spouse, you must claim it as ordinary income.
