There are many things that can go wrong with the blood... but I've yet to hear about an actual blood "inflamation." Usually, the word "inflamation" refers to the buildup of red blood cells in an injured area, often interchangably used with the term "infection." If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that the test reveals some type of bacterial, fungal, or viral infection within the bloodstream. Fortunately most things such as these are treatable... but I'm no doctor. Write out a good list of questions you and family may have, and bring this with you to your appointment with your doctor. Chances are, most of your questions will be answered before you ask them; doctors tend to be good at that. As far as what to expect, remember that we live in a very advanced medical society. Our ability to diagnose and treat disease is already impressive, and continues to grow at astounding rates. So you can expect all odds to point in your favor! The very best of luck to you!

Was this a sed rate blood test (ESR)?

The sed rate is not a very specific test. Meaning that something may not be right but, if there is a problem, it could be anything from minor to major.

Give your physician time to find out what's going on.

Best Wishes!
