Whats the diffrents between MB and GB when it comes to Sb memory cards?

im getting a sb memory card for my nextel i870 and one for my i880, and i wanted to no should i go with the 512mb or the 1gb,what is the diffrence between mb and gb,witch one is more space, and is it so many mb equal a gb or somthing.
