Is spanking a good way to discipline?

Spanking should never be used since it is a form of abuse and has not been used as a form of discipline for years. One of the best ways of discipline is a quiet pillow or corner or even a step on a staircase where if the child acts out, or hits, or swears, or is just acting inappropriately they are placed on the pillow or stair or in the corner until they calm down and can apologize to the parent and even the other child if one is involved. It has been found that alot of kids that are physically abused when young act out more severely when they get older so if you do not want the baseball bat to the head when your kid becomes a teenager use the less intrusive ways to deal with behaviors. Plus it will not put up a barrier between you and your child. Another tip never yell at your kids children are much more receptive if we talk in a nornal toine of voice rather then getting into a yelling match.

It's a choice of last resort. Before I would spank my kids, they'd get a time out first, lose choices second along with a warning that spanking was the next level, then a spanking. In other words, 3 times of the same type of misbehavior would bring on a spanking.

I was raised the old school way and I believe in spanking. There is a huge difference between spanking and beating a child. If more children got spanked when they are small then parents and society wouldn't have half the problems that they do today with the children.

Spank who? If you mean a child then no ,ask your self what are you teaching your child by being abusive,and would you like to be spanked?Why should it be ok for
for a child to get spanked and not an adult?There are many ways of disciplining your child without laying a hand on them.Please think before you do it!

Who is to say what is a "good" way to discipline your child? What works for one person, may not work for another. I've spanked my 3 year old twice, it wasn't hard and he had really crossed the line , too, but it did get his attention. Just don't spank out of anger, and don't spank to hurt your kid. It's your child so you should discipline in whatever way that works for you

it worked when I was growing up but you try it now a days and your liable to get thrown in jail for child abuse and have your kids taken away and placed in foster care as wards of the court . Its all just the beginning of marshal law, a police state of the new world order.

It also depends on what it is that you are spanking. If it is your kid and nobody is watching, then yes its ok . Never ever under any circumstance spank an animal , well except a monkey lol.

The Bible says spare the rod and spoil the child. I believe that children who receive spankings (not beatings) as discipline grow up to be better behaved.

Ma'm. I'm Old School. Spare the Rod. And spoil the Child. I was spanked,(not nearly enough) I spanked my children. (They're gown and still Love me). But there's so many Bad Parents. I want you to look into your own reasons. And be sure that you won't go overboard. As a punishment. It's THE most effective way to gain control of an unruly Child. But you can go overboard. Take a breath. Take a second. And dish it out, if necessary.

Hmm... in some cases, it's advisable to spank... cases like, he/she is already going beyond the limit of being a good boy/girl... Don't do it every mistake that he/she will make because he/she will feel that he/she is always doing a wrong "thingy"... If I were you, I will use other ways how to discipline a person... Ü

Spanking works as long as you don't go overboard and you use it as a last resort. I was spanked and I truly believe that It affected me in a positive way. It is a way to teach children that there will be physical consequences to their actions.
