My dad didn't get married until he was 35. My stepdad got divorced in his 20s and didn't get remarried until he was 50.
In other words, there is lots of precedent for this, you are not alone. There are tons of people who don't get married. It's perfectly FINE to be single, don't listen to people who "suspect your character". Why are they doing that anyway?

Tell those people you just haven't met the person for you if they still have a problem with you or still make comments maybe they are not friends or acquitances you need in your life. If you are happy then that is all that matters screw what others think.

next time they ask you that ask that, ask them why wont they get divorced or split up with their better half?
you don't force your lifestyle on them and they shouldn't force their lifestyle on you. Its ignorant and its a an attempt to make you look worse than they are just so they can have an ego boost
start asking them questions that they are uncomfortable with, maybe than they will get the hint
i.e why you fat? why you broke you get the idea...man up and stand up for your self
