Cut a piece of plywood to size, paint one side with rubber cement and glue a fitted piece of foam rubber over it. Lay your fabric on the floor, center the plywood/foam piece on fabric, foam side down. Glue or staple the fabric to the edges of the back side of the plywood. You need to attach either the top or bottom the entire length, then stretch and attach all the way around, being sure to allow at least 3 or 4 inches from the outside edge of your headboard so that the edge of the fabric is not too close to the edge of the headboard.

Buy either plywood or MDF board. MDF would be my choice as it really doesn't need sanding. cut the board to the size and shape you desire. If you want a tufted look drill small holes 10-12 inches apart . wrap in padding or foam staple firmly to back. Cover with fabric of your choice. Make sure you get it nice and even. staple top edge first followed by bottom then stretch each side and staple them. If tufting find really nice interesting buttons or self covered buttons. Using carpet thread and long needle go through holes and sew button tightly through all layers. tie off. attatch anchors to back and hang at level desired. It's really not hard at all and they look great.

Cut a piece of plywood to the size that you want. Cover it with batting (the plush stuff that comes in rolls at a fabric shop) and staple the overhang neatly to the back. Then all you have to do is find your fabric and cover it the same way. Mount anchors to the back and your done!

The Do It Yourself network had one of these on recently. It's not pictured, but the "recipe" is there on the website
