I am 5'3 and 130 pounds, my goal is 115 and that's my "skinny" weight. I have been eating 1200-1500 calories per day and my exercise consists of 2-4 miles of walking EVERY day plus an hour of cardio 3-4 times per week. I feel like I am doing everything right and I have lost ONE pound in the past 2 weeks! Seems really hard for one measley pound!

Hi hun

Here are some common reasons why you may not be losing weight. If you need explanations I'd be happy to provide them in detail.

You may be keeping the weight because you are:

* Not drinking at least 2 litres of water

* Having bread, rice, pasta, crackers, breakfast cereals

* Having fruit juice

* Having alcohol

* Having dairy products eg. milk, yoghurt etc

* Certain medications

* Having mainly or too many carrots as your veggie requirement

* Having potatoes, pumpkin, peas or corn

* Eating nuts or seeds

* Havings honey or sugar in tea/decaffeinated coffee/shakes

* Having chickpeas, kidney or cannelloni beans

* Consuming too much dressing, sauces, mayo, gravies etc or those with greater than 5g carbs/100g

* Having baked beans

* Too many treat options or having them too often

* Having regular coffee rather than decaff or having more than 3 cups of normal tea per day

* Having lots of tea/decaff coffee with milk so that total milk intake is high

* Having normal soft drinks rather than having diet and caffeine free versions

* Having powdered soups available from supermarket

* Skipping meals

Doing any of this? Remember, it's not just calories that you have to watch. Carbohydrate and fat intake is crucial.

Also, you are not a big person and its harder to loose weight when you have less to loose. Stick to it! Remember fruit and vege and drink heaps of water!

Good luck

To lose weight, your daily consumption should not be over 1000 calories. Drink plenty of water, too. Remember, as you tone up, you will not necessarily lose weight because you are converting fat into muscle which weighs more. Worry more about your size than numbers on a scale. Good luck!

I know what you mean for the last 2 months I've been trying to drop the lbs and its going a lil slow..even with spending hours at the gym and 1500 call a day...sometime we just hit plateau in dieting...it could be that you are not eating enough calories and you metabolism is running slower..try increasing to 1600 a day and spacing out small low cal meals every few hours..this helps it to constantly be working. Good luck and dont give up you can do it! Also cut out refined sugar and refined breads..drink only water no sugary juice or sodas. Sugar is the enemy..it turns to fat in the body

Eat a big breakfast and a small dinner. I lost a bunch of weight by changing the amounts of food I had for each meal. Eating a big breakfast, a medium sized lunch and a fairly small dinner actually makes a huge difference!

You may only be eating 1200 - 1500 calories, but if it's all carbs, it's gonna take awhile to lose the weight. Try increasing your protein (eggs, fish, low-fat peanut butter) and your water consumption.

Unfortunately you will probably need to keep it up for a few months, then it will drop all of a sudden... Also try skipping breakfast. Doctors have new studies that say that this isn't bad for you anymore. It will decrease appetite, and you'll eat less calories. Just have a coffee instead. It has worked for both my mom and me. We both lost fifteen pounds in a couple of months.

Try not to calculate your calories, just eat and when you feel that you're full, then stop eating. Eat healthy. DON'T walk everyday, try running or jogging instead, because walking has very slow effect. Stay active. You can do gardening, taking the stairs instead of the elavator. Good luck.

I (they say this isn't healthy but) have to cut my calories to under 1,000 and my fat to under 20 grams a day to lose my 2 pounds a week and that is with exercise. I think every body's body is just diffident and reacts differently.

Limit your carbs not your calories. You will not loose weight because your insulin is making sure that you don't. Your body is afraid that you are starving so it is trying to keep that weight on.

Less carbs, less stuff to stick to your hips.
