i think simply elegant is better than expensive and extravagant.

candles, lots of candles, especially in october. autumn plants around. buy fabric for draping, no sewing required. outdoors is a beautiful setting, you don't have to decorate so much.

And the M&Ms store can customize print any message in any color on M&Ms, which are cute, decorative, edible serving 3 purposes with one item.

I had no desire to hire a wedding planner. We were just going to get married at one of those little chapels in Las Vegas. Then, at the request of a family member, we moved the wedding to Florida. My now step-daughter did all the wedding planning activities because although we used the services of a 'chapel', there were a lot of changes to those arrangements since we wanted a pagan wedding. I have to say, it was a treat to have someone else make all those decisions since I am not a planner sort of person. I was fortunate. I had a future family member who LOVES the challenge of organizing anything. A wedding planner makes sense if you are having a large wedding, a destination wedding, an unusual arrangement and don't want to deal with details. Lots of women are very picky about what they want, but don't have the time to arrange it because of a career. However, for the average bride, she can certainly manage all these things without too much difficulty.

Look up the Book " how to fire your wedding planner"
The lady has a whole online setup that you can research items, get listings on sales at a discount, Get Tips on saving $ with Vendors, how to save $ on not over spending the Budget. See the Link below and sign up for her emails. I get them and i've learned a thing or 2 while i'm currently plannin my Wedding myself.
You're going to need some help if you're doing 2 ceremonies which both involve traditions. So check it out and see if it'll help you save any $ on stuff.
Also, with decorations, you can make your own for way cheaper then buying them.
Go to the craft store, buy a Bow maker, buy the materials for your Bows, thread it through and Whaa la... instant money savor on a Do it yourself Bow (it just takes time)

Also, oriental trading company has a catalog that you can order wedding favors in that is Cheap. You can personalize the stuff to fit your Needs on some stuff. Just look up "oriental trading company"

I believe you mean wedding reception by saying wedding preparations!!! Preparations should be as per rituals and you can arrange the receptions in a good hotel where you would find everything ready and with extra-ordinary quality. I did the same and people still remember the show

you want an extravagant wedding which to me = $$$$$$

go to theknot.com for a wedding checklist. see all the things you want. if you know the places you want to go for different things then make appointments and see people.

you can easily do a wedding on your own, but it sounds like you want a lot of different things that could be hard to deliver on.

some things you will want to think about:

wedding site/reception site
type of meal/table arrangements
cake
music
transportation to wedding and reception
favors
guest book/signature frame
