The short answer is NO. If you have schizophrenia it is PERMANENT! However, with the proper medication and work with a psychotherapist, the symptoms can be controlled to an almost nonexistent level.

Twenty percent of people with schizophrenia make a full and complete recovery. Most folks need to take medication in the longer term but it most definitely can be controlled and some folks do indeed totally recover.

There are new medicine other then Respertol, hydol, etc. There is something called "coluserial" I think I spelled that wrong. Anyway the medicine just help you not thinking, so you don't have episodes. After Time depending on individuals your own mind may heal itself.

I think there can be some cures via electroshock therapy but I'm not entirely sure

No schizophrenics cannot be cured, but they can be stabilized with medication.
