Okay - let me begin by saying I'm agnostic and monotheistic.
I must agree that many people get too vicious in their denunciations of christ. While everyone is allowed to say and believe what they want, actively mocking the most central beliefs of others is entirely bad taste and will result only in confrontation and hate.
I think christ was a good person by almost any standard - aside from possible "guilt of blasphemy," depending on perspective. But, let me explain to you why so many agnostics and atheists are so mad at religions. Imagine being told you are going to hell just because you don't have the same view as another person regarding someone who died 2000 years ago. That's definitely going to look like a simplification from your perspective - but, that is essentially what we have had to deal with for much of our lives. Many of us are sick of being sent to hell by other *people* and so some of us resort to anger.
Also - be a little careful of how you use introspection. For many agnostics, the decision to renounce Christianity was the result of a spiritual journey and an attempt to find god. Nonetheless, those who mock in anger *are* in need of introspection as love and peace are obvious necessities in all aspects of human life for those who have had a true spiritual journey or enlightenment.
I will never agree with your religion, but I will always wish peace and love upon you.

I think Jesus had a nice message. Be nice to others and help eachother. You can't get a better message than that. However - a lot of people who run around praising his name are so unlike Christ it's disgusting. They're not nice, nor helpful. Instead they're full of hate, intolerance, and condemnation. You also have to realize that not everyone believes Jesus was a savior.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. Â They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.

Because you are (atheists that is) angry, bitter, bigots...and have a lot of time on your hands. Some less so than others, some more so than others.
What happened to the good old days when atheists went to strip clubs and nudist colonies and didn't have time to go out of their way to mock Christians?

"others like to think of [Jesus] as a punching bag/stress reliever. "
Yeah, Nazis feel that way about YWVH, too.

I do take Jesus as serious as can be taken , he's my savior...the one that mock him or only hurting themselves..but Jesus said we would be mocked in his name and we will be rewarded for our persecutions, so they think they are hurting us , no we are having more jewels added to our crowns, for when we get to heaven.....Jesus was persecuted and we will be til we go to be with him, and I don't mind it I know that I will be glorifying the Lord....so just be meek and say nothing and go on as Jesus did.....they can't hurt us even unto death, we have a better place waiting for us...so be of good cheer.....

Because the people who do have found out their plan on "living like there's no tommorow untill there's no tommorow" got hung up and now like bratty children they want to drag us down because they have nothing better to do with their bitter little pointless lives.
I suggest you do what you can to ignore them, they want a world where people find them something to outrage over, when all they do is make themselves an irritation.

It all started when people decided to worship him as a god. After that, it was pretty hard to take Jesus seriously. If I started worshipping Napoleon, you'd think it was pretty silly, wouldn't you?

jesus is a religious figure. some of us look at him as a saviour.
others like to think of him as a punching bag/stress reliever. and make hillarious jokes about him. look at this way, they're still talking about jesus. and i think the bible says there's no such thing as bad publicity!

I wouldn't worry about them, those who mock anything must have miserable lives. As long as you are comfortable in your own beliefs, you shouldn't be worried about what others say.
The Almighty can take care of (its) own.....
