Decent. If you want to go to a steakhouse for your birthday, you should try a more upscale place such as a Ruth's Chris or Stonewood Tavern. You'll probably pay twice you would at an Outback, but believe when I say it's worth it. You're birthday only comes once a year. Go big or go home.

Outback is considered a mid-range steakhouse by those that frequent restaurants.
You probably won't get a bad steak here, but you won't get the best either. Order the filet or ask for "Prime" versions of any of the steaks and you won't go wrong.
The "Outback Special" is nothing more than a small portion of a regular sirloin, so don't expect much...

So you're in Chicago? Leno's is my favorite steakhouse there, but it is rather expensive. The Outback Special steak is very good, especially if you get the "fully loaded" baked potato with it, and it will only run you about $15 per person.
The bread they serve you with the meal is the best of any steakhouse, no matter how expensive.

I totally agree with the person who replied first at top of list. Outback is okay... typical "big chain" grub. I didn't see anything special about it. Ruths Chris is my favorite. Chain also but smaller chain and awesome steak, et al. Pricy, but you can get a Jr. Strip which is good sized for like $25. I promise you; go to an Outback then go to a Ruths Chris or Gibson's type of place and you will see a huge difference in quality, taste, and atmosphere.

Eh. It is a matter of opinion, but for a steakhouse I have always found them to be highly overrated. It is ok, but I've been to much better steakhouses for much better prices. I'd give you some suggestions, but it depends on what is available in your area. As far as chains are concerned, Longhorn is really good for a reasonable price, but the one where I live might be better than one on the other side of the country. Who knows?
Happy Birthday!

It is OK, I know people who have had a bad time there, but to me it is a nice Fridays and a step below cheesecake factory
I belive in going to local places, you live in Chicago, go to Gean and Gorgettes, or Giboson, if you can not afford that then go to Carmines or the place next to Gibsons, the frog place
there are a million places to go for the same price as the outback that are better,
use a web site called opentable.com to make resivations

It really isn't that bad but if there is a Texas Roadhouse go there instead it's pretty much the same food a little better and better priced. The Outback is a little pricey!

I like Outback. They have a nice variety. Good steak and good fish. The bread is fantastic and I like the blooming onion. Steak is $15-20. The service by us in Wheaton is very good.

For a chain, it is ok. between $15 & $20 a person....would not be at the top of my list though. Depends upon where you are, but in Lake County, a great steak house is Backyard Steak Pit in Gurnee. where ever you go, have a nice birthday
