You can't spot reduce.

Do some crunches and leg lifts every morning and every night. Do 30 minutes of cardio at least three times a week (run/walk/bike). Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night (turn off the TV and the computer).

Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Try to eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3g saturated fat and 3g sugars.

Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals.

If you don't wake up starving, you ate too much the day before.

Good luck.

Hey Buddy,

Sounds like you have the same problem as alot of kids. It's really easy to fall into this kind of situation when you don't know proper nutrition and excercising.

I'm not sure what kind of physical activity you are into right now but I would really recommend at least 20-30 minutes of some kind of cardio 3-4 times a week. Find something that you enjoy doing. If you can get some quality cardio by playing basketball, then by all means...pick something you'll like.

In addition to the cardio, it's a good idea to do some ab workouts as well. Try doing some crunches and what ever other ab excercises work for you. Just make sure you do them on a regular basis.

Also, you need to watch what you eat. I'm not talking about crash dieting here but just make sure you're making healthy choices. Lay off the fast food and try snacking on fruits and vetatables instead of chips and junk food.

Getting into good shape is something that you have to commit too. It's not something that is just going to happen over night. You'll have to put some work into it but when you begin to see the results, it's awesome! It's also always more fun and easier when you have someone to have a go at it with you.

Good luck and I wish you the best!

You sound like you're in a healthy range. However at 14 you're still going to see a lot of rail kids. You may not be as big as you think you are. If you aren't getting much of a work out it might be good to do some more aerobic activity to work your core.

Your young and your tall, but your not overweight! But, you may not be in fighting trim you may just need to move it around a little. The other kids, your comparing yourself to, may be more active than you are. But to some degree they may appear that way simply because of their genes. Look at your family members particularly those of your same sex. (you don't indicate your gender) are you similar in shape? Look at the family pictures of them at about the same age, and then look at them when they were a little older, did they thin out and alter their silhouette? When I was in the Army overseas I was down to about 120# at 5'7" You could count my ribs but I had a little pot and love handles, just my shape I guess. With your classmates It maybe their family eating patterns are more conducive too their apparent fitter appearance. So look at what you eat and how you eat, find reliable (not celebrity based) ideas about healthy eating and necessary activity levels for your age. see how you stack up. The American Society of Pediatrics, might be good and they might even have a question board that might be useful. I don't see that you are out of a healthy wt. range. I f you want to improve you level of fitness without great changes in your lifestyle first I would get out from behind the keyboard. Go for a walk, ride a bike. You maybe are like me in that I despise exercises for its own sake. I don't like sports. But I like woodworking with hand tools, I enjoying walking around interesting neighborhoods looking at old houses, I will walk to most places I want to go. No jogging or running for me; those I see doing it are not smiling, just purposeful ordinary strides. When I was your age I was in marching band and rode a bike some. Do some mildly physical chores around the house, take the stairs whenever you can. Skate, either kind. Less computer, more activity, thoughtful, not obsessive eating choices. You have the option to alter things somewhat, but don't freak out. Take it easy mind the comparisons with others. They should never be the basis of who you are and what you think of your self.. Take care, grow.
