So, if I were to have unprotected sex with a girl and I don't know her history and she had HIV will I automatically get it? I'm totally gonna get tested, but is it a guaranteed thing - you do it once and you're screwed, or is it a 10% chance, 50%, 90% ??? Anyone have sure knowledge of this or a link to where I can find it?

Note - I'm not a total delinquent - I always use protection. This was a one time, drunken night , mistake thing.

There are a lot of factors affecting HIV transmission, including the current health status of your partner. Basically a higher viral load of the partner, poor immune status, and varied exposure to body fluids.
It could range from 10% and above. Get tested. But remember to also get tested regularly. Heres a useful link below. Its from the health answers service of columbia university.

It is not a question of %, unprotected sex will lead to HIV infection, not now maybe, but next time. Being tested is no way to determine if you are infected, there is a minimum 6 month window period, and sometimes longer, in which you can be infected, and infect other people before your test is positive. That is why health workers who come into contact with HIV positive blood have to go for tests for 6 months before they are declared uninfected. The moral of the story, if you are going to have sex, find out about HIV and other sexual diseases, and be protected. Remember however, no protection is 100% safe.
Go onto the net and type in HIV in any search engine and you will get loads of information.

Cant find the exact percentage chance, but it is significantly harder for a man to contract HIV from a female than a female from a man.
Always protect yourself first, and yes, get tested - and get tested again in 6 months and 12 months as the HIV infection can sometimes take that long to show up.

YES. It could be fatal. In fact in many countries persons having HIV are not permitted to have sex with others and it is considered as illegal and it is called criminal transmission. Read below the excerpts from Wikipedia-
Criminal transmission of HIV -
In many countries, the intentional or reckless infection of a person with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is considered to be illegal. People who do so can be charged with Criminal Transmission of HIV, murder, manslaughter attempted murder, or assault. Some states have enacted laws expressly to criminalize HIV transmission, as in the United States, while others charge under the existing laws, as in the United Kingdom. Several other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) have been known to medical science for centuries, but there was little incentive to criminalize their transmission for two practical reasons:
- many societies were reluctant to discuss matters of sex, let alone enact legislation to control sexual activity; and
- unlike HIV (and subsequent AIDS), these other STDs are not fatal.
So if you had sex with a girl having HIV you are bound to get the disease say 100%. If by chance you have doubt of having had sex with HIV infected girl, please have all medical checkups done and ensure that you do not have unprotected sex with any female hereafter. You better get tested dude. Although no fluids are going into the male body during sex, there still is a chance for men to get infected with HIV during unprotected sex.

If she is young and hadn't slept with an injection drug user or a homosexual male, She has a low chance of having HIV
and you as a male have a very low chance of getting it even if she did, But it is nothing to be complacent about, if you are worried, get tested, and next time use a condom and do that until you are going to get married, then both get tested before not using condoms any more.
