If you read about what the enlightenment was about, then you'll realize that "reason" was the focal point. What does "reason" mean in those times. Well, it means that the "Dark Ages" represented non-enlighten times where faith was put on everything from religion to when it will rain. We are definately enlightenment people in general. I believe you want to know if you can be enlightened. This depends entirely on you. You have choose to use "reason", "logic", and "facts" to live your life versus by "faith" and by "religion". I believe we will be remembered as the people who lived an enchanted or a charmed life. We pick and choose between "reason" and "faith" on a regular basis. Our decisions are based on both and always supporting both ideals. So, no, I don't think I believe in enlightenment anymore. We have gone far beyond it.

Absolutely. Enlightenment is at the end of a path made of different level of Awareness, it's up to every individual to choose how far and close to Enlightenment to go. The Path is long and difficult, but if you keep your mind and heart open you can make to the end.

What do you mean by the word believe? How can you believe in something in which state of mind yo have never lived? You don't know what is enlightenment and you want to believe in it? You have to just experience it. Then there is no need to believe it.

Most people think of enlightenment as a kind of magical attainment, a state of being close to perfection. At this level, one can perform amazing feats, see past and future lives of others, and tune in to the inner workings of the universe. This may be possible for a number of special beings, but for most of us enlightenment is much more in line with what Suzuki Roshi describes. It means having a quality of "beginningness," a fresh, simple, unsophisticated view of things. To have "beginner's mind" in how we approach things is a major teaching. In many ways, the process of enlightenment is clearing away the thoughts, beliefs, and ideas that cloud our ability to see things as they really are in their pristine form.

Yes, I do believe in enlightenment, and God has given me that many times in my life. He has given me clear understanding about things that I had no way of knowing. He has directed my path in life to get me where I am now from Louisiana to Michigan. I once said that you could not pay me to live in Michigan, but through Devinne knowledge and a vision, God led me here, and I married a man with 5 children who were almost street kids, and now they are all grown, in church, and we have 16 grand babies. Yes, Yes, yes, I believe in enlightenment.

Hi Bad buddihst!!!

Yes, I do. I believe that enlightenment is when one actually received the light of wisdom, coming from GOD, to dissipate the bouts and ignorance, which are in us.

Enlightenment, gives one the sense of security, happiness and love, not only for others but oneself, clarifying ALL our senses, making us less worldly and more spirituals.

GOD BLESS YOU & LET'S PRAY THAT THE LIGHT OF GOD SHINE ON US TO GUIDE US TO HIM

A.Z.
