You should definitely have this done professionally. There are times when I will advocate doing one's hair at home, but when lightening very dark hair I feel it should be left to professionals. For one thing, no boxed haircolor is going to be effective in lightening your dark hair to a light golden brown. (i.e. you'll put the hairdye in and it won't barely do anything) To do this you would need some level of bleach applied to the hair to lighten it, and then have the color applied, which I definitely would not do at home. If you screw up the bleaching process (which isn't hard to do), you could leave your hair very damaged and an odd color. Pay the money and see a stylist. You'll be thankful you did, believe me. To your question of what colors they were, the one on the left is a dark golden brown, and the one on the right is a very light golden brown, maybe even a dark golden blonde. The one on the left definitely isn't auburn as another answerer said. Auburn is essentially a dark red shade, and that definitely isn't.

WOW!...You chose some beautiful hair colors.
Unfortunately, you will never be able to get that coloring from a box. I WOULD KNOW, from past experience.

You'll have to get a professional to give you that look.
And another thing. Doing your own highlights never looks right.

In answer to the other part of your question. "What color is this?"
The hair on the left is aubern. The hair on the right is aubern that has been frosted with golden blonde.

Good choice! It's really beautiful!

Good Luck. I know you'll look gorgeous.

Trust me on this. When I did my own high lights, THEY WERE HORRIBLE! I had to go get my hair completely dyed professionally. The kind that you get out of a box contains tons of ammonia, which can ruin your hair. I would go someplace and demi dye it. Sorta like a test run to see if you like it or not. Within a month the demi dye will be gone. Demi dye is actually good for your hair. It contains nutrients and protein. Never dye hair yourself. I learned it the hard way!

nicely, u might desire to be careful. i be attentive to my mom cant get a perm and dye her hair on the comparable time cuz that is going to fry her hair. so she generally waits some month. you're able to be superb if u do now. so good waiting for a whilst ^ ^ and as suggested until now, its like blending paints. inspite of the certainty that, provided that u have highlights over ur bleach, it would produce different colorations on it too, that could look large

If I was you, I think I would try the Salon first time dyeing your hair...especially with your hair being so dark. BUT if you want to do it at home, make sure you read all the directions all the way thru and do the strand test.

If you are going lighter, don't go drastically blond at first...you might try a shade or two lighter at first. GOOD LUCK!
