Think if you have been chewing gum today? If you have an ear thermometer check both ears to see if one has an elevated temperature. If you have a tooth ache it can cause what is called deferred pain that can be felt in your ear.

If the pain is moderate you should monitor it closely to see if it is getting worse or not improving. You will need to use your judgment to decide when to seek help. You may need to treat it with antibiotics.

Otherwise about all you can do short of medical treatment is to take some tylenol.

Depends on what the cause is. Visit your Dr. maybe its an infection or just a result of a common cold. I usually end up getting earaches when i have a severe headache or a bad cold. An antibiotic or some panadol or voltaren for severe pain works for me. Just close your ears with a tiny ballof cotton wool when sleeping. I would not agree with the clove of garlic, I know a friend who tried this once and it got stuck in her ear, it had gone too deep and she was in much more trouble than the earache. So take care. Slight damage to the ear drum could end up is too many complications.
Best of luck!

You could try putting some saline solution and a cotton ball in your ear. If it is severe or has been persistent go see a doctor. Your ear could be infected. I got a terrible ear infection several years ago that I finally got checked when it started affecting my balance. The doc put a few drops in my ear (of what, I have no idea) and it felt better within minutes. I then got a shot of antibiotics and went home. Quick, simple, and I sure wished I hadn't waited so long.

Buy a bottle of sweet oil, run it under hot water for a couple minutes to warm it, then put a couple drops in the ear that aches; put some cotton in your ear to keep the oil in place. If that doesn't work for you, then see your doctor because you could have an ear infection. Your pharmacist can show you where the sweet oil is, and it doesn't require a prescription.

You may have an ear infection. You definately need to make an appointment with your doctor. Do you have a fever also? A fever is a sign of infection. My son has a fever every time he has an ear infection. Good luck! Don't put it off!

Put a hot damp piece of cotton in your ear....

Or an old school trick that worked all the time, was putting a clove of garlic in your ear, it makes it feel better.
