Taekwondo is much better for girls, it is famed for its employment of kicking techniques, which distinguishes it from martial arts such as karate or certain southern styles of kung fu. The rationale is that the leg is the longest and strongest weapon a martial artist has, and kicks thus have the greatest potential to execute powerful strikes without retaliation successfully.

Physically, taekwondo develops strength, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina.

Some of the best-known taekwondo techniques include:

Front Kick
Side Kick
Roundhouse Kick
Hook Kick
Axe Kick
Crescent Kick
Jump Kicks
Spin Kicks
Snap Kick

If you consider Muay Thai as kickboxing, take it. Muay Thai train more realistic than Tae Kwon Do. You may want to check out some of K-1 Max fight on youtube.

Also Tae Kwon Do has been overcommericalized, overmarketed, and heavily watered down, so it's more of a show art than fighting art.

In Muay Thai class, expect your shins to be really ugly for first 3 to 6 months because you'll have to condition them. It'll be painful but once it's conditioned, your shin will be as hard as a bat and you'll be able to use it as both offensive and defensive weapon with great effective. Also you'll learn how to use many different part of body as a weapon such as elbows, hands, feet, shin, knees, and clinch. They will have you train at full strenghtness when it come to pads or bag work.

Hope this help some.

I study, teach & highly reccommend Tae Kwon Do. Find a traditional rather than sport school. The term "kickboxing" is used to describe a wide variety of styles from Tae Bo to Muay Thai & lots of things in between, so I have no way of knowing what you are refering to.

I think you might like Ninjutsu - Ninja.
I do it here in australia.
Yes you will get bruises, but ninja
is about using your own bodyweight[momentum]
against any attack and you also learn weapons
like knife, sword so u can defend both unarmed
and armed[say with moneybox] against attacks.

It is an old japanese art.
