You know, how they always say boys are just using girls during the teenage years, girls just wanna have fun. etc. Is there any hope for true love here?

There are sometimes young people who marry their high school sweethearts. Unfortunately, these marriages usually don't last. Going straight from HS to marriage is hard. Often young people grow apart. You have to be willing to never date, sleep with , etc another person. It is however possible. I met my husband when I was 17. It was the first week of freshman year at University. I might as well have still been in HS. He was 18. We were together all through the years until we got our degrees. Then we were married. We waited awhile to start a family. I think that's the key. It's a huge amount of stress on a marriage to have a baby right away. You don't get the chance to truly know each other and you have this huge responsibility. Staying together takes a lot of work and commitment. Still and all, young love is great, you can be in the moment and just enjoy the dating relationship for as long as it lasts. Getting married should be the last thing on your mind!!!

It can be serious but that doesn't mean it will last forever. People change an awful lot between 18 and 24 so relationships can crumble. It's best to put off marrying a high school sweetheart until you've both had some life experience and sometimes it works out great.

Sorry, High school love does not last beyond high school. But there's always exceptions to the rules. The best thing is try to have a good time in high school and don't worry too much about being in love etc.

In certain cases there is hope. In one such case, a girl I grew up with married her highschool sweetheart, she's 24 now, met this guy in 10th grade. They are great together, perfect one could say.
So in my opinion, yes high school love can be serious.

I have no idea, highschool has come and gone for me, and no, I am not currently with any boy from there........
Truth is, when you're young you're immature, with that comes the facts of life that you simply cannot grasp the level of reality which comes with living life.....convaluted and ridiculously complicated as it may be.....I have heard of 'highschoolsweethearts' who go on to become married and happy, I just think everyone's personality and goals in life come first, so if you're in highschool right now and in a relationship and your real question is will it last?.........well since you're in here asking everyone chances are no, it will not. .............
you seem to have come to your own conclusions.....better you just pursue your own dreams and goals in life, as life is far too short....but if you truly love her then include her in that....

I think from year 10 and upwards it is serious....especially year 12...but for the Junior years it is very rarely ever serious.

Have you ever heard that many people marry their high school sweet heart if they keep in touch with them.
Just dont fall in love in high school, you will end up having a bad experience from it.

Well, my brother got married to his high school sweetheart...
And then divorced about 3 years later.
But for some people it works out I guess!

I think it is rare. I remember a song that talks about high school sweethearts who marry each other instead of their dreams.
