in excel, instead of seeing numbers such as 1.99493833 i want to make it 1.995 ?

BigRez is correct. You can also do a whole group of cells or the entire worksheet at once rather than one cell at a time. Just highlight section first.
Under the NUMBERS tab you have several choices to change the number of extended digits depending on your needs. For example you can do this with Number, Currency, Accounting, Percentage and more.
Note, this is where you can format other number items too such as how a Date will appear.

Right click on the cell (or column) and select format cell. Then click on the Numbers and set the decimals to 3.
